The AB CGMFC Committee is planning an exciting weekend of musical events. We hope you'll join us!

Thursday, August 27th @ 7 pm:  Fiddle Jam at the Munroe Barn in Sheppard Park.
Free event and open to the public.

Friday, August 28th @ 12 pm: *NEW - Junior & Senior Category Contest
This inaugural competition will see Fiddlers 16 yrs & under (Juniors) and 60 yrs & over (Seniors) compete for prizes in these two new categories. Top 5 fiddlers in both categories will compete during the Finals on Saturday evening. Held at the Highwood Centre, this is a ticketed event and open to the public. Tickets will be available after May 1, 2026. 

Registration for these two classes is $30/class and will have a limit of 15 participants each. Registration Deadline:  April 1, 2026.

Friday, August 28th @ 7 pm - 10 pm: Community Family Barn Dance
Held at the Highwood Centre, this is a ticketed event and open to the public. Tickets will be available after May 1, 2026.

Saturday, August 29th @ 12 pm: Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition Preliminaries
30-35 fiddlers from across Canada will compete for title of Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Champion with the top 10 moving on to the evening finals. This is a ticketed event and open to the public. Tickets will be available online after May 1, 2026.

This category continues to be by invitation and requires the submission of a video that will be assessed by a CGMFA selection committee. There is no fee to participate. Prize money: 1st~$3500, 2nd~$2500, 3rd~$2000, 4th-10th~$750. Registration Deadline:  April 1, 2026.

Saturday, August 29th @ 7 pm: Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition Finals
The top 10 competitors from the preliminaries will play off for the top title. We will also induct legends into the Hall of Honor. Held at the Highwood Centre, this is a ticketed event and open to the public. Tickets will be available online after May 1, 2026. 

*New this year: There will be no Junior Showcase as it is being replaced by the top 5 finalists from the Junior & Senior classes.

Sunday, August 30th @ 1 pm: Prairie Outdoor Kitchen Party Jam
Fiddlers/musicians are invited to participate in the Sunday afternoon 'Bandstand Sundays' concert series in George Lane Park. Free event and open to the public.
